If you suspect a child in drug use

If you suspect your child's drug use....

If you find that your child is taking drugs, stay calm and do not panic. Before you do anything, think:

• Does your information is correct;

• whether he took drugs regularly or is it a one-off "experiment";

• How to maintain his trust and communication with each other;

• How to best help your child.

Your actions...

You can offer to be tested, using which it is easy to determine the received material.
Read the instructions carefully. It is desirable that the entire testing process was in your presence.

Periods during which you can determine which substance was made:

Morphine , heroin , codeine - up to 6 days,

Marijuana - from 3 to 10 days,

Ecstasy - from 3 up to 5 days;

Cocaine - from 24 to 48 hours

Amphetamines - 3 up to 5 days;

Methamphetamine - from 3 to 5 days;

Barbiturates - from 4 to 7 days;

Benzodiazepines - from 3 to 7 days;

If you find that this is a one-off "experiment", enough to talk about it with your child. Be tactful, but clearly showing their disapproval. What are the causes of non-drug use:

• drugs injurious to health;

• the use of narcotic drugs is a criminal offense, it can lead to big trouble;

It is important to find out why your child is using drugs. If health or your child's behavior indicates that he regularly takes drugs, then you should proceed to further action. Do not despair, as there are many opportunities to help him.

I promise you my support!

Your support is vital for the child in all circumstances. You need to keep your relationship with him and show your love and care. Children need to feel that they are valued and loved, even when they are doing something wrong. "I do not like your actions, but I love you" - these words they want to hear and believe them.

It is possible that your child needs more help than you can do. Think about who and how could help. Unfortunately, not many institutions that are able to support you. Ask for help from family and loved ones, friends, if necessary, to the professionals.

To change takes time

If your child regularly takes drugs, it is unlikely that it will stop immediately after your call. Better, probably, will be gradual, and not excluded a temporary return to drugs. Be realistic.

If you want to help your child, do not blame him, admit that maybe you somewhere were wrong or something you could do for him.

What matters is not who is to blame and how to help now!

A systematic drug use can lead to serious consequences. But it is your duty to help your child deal with the problem. Remember that there are no ready-made recipes, all individually. Patience, calm will help you in solving this problem.
